Speech Recognition

What a remarkable week I have had. I had the opportunity to use Speech Recognition which comes with Windows 7. The practice sessions were exciting! Trying to remember the prompts to edit and correct my mistakes was challenging. I found a useful article "Speech Recognition with Windows XP." Not only does this site useful information about speech technologies you also have links to other resources and tools. This is my first posting using this tool. I willl use the speech recognition tool to complete portions of my readings paper due at the end of the summer session.

  1. That's great, Darnell! Who knows, maybe you'll get so good at it that you'll keep using it even after your arm heals!

  2. Glad to see that your voice recognition is working. I would have liked to have learned more about the process you went through. Did it record it correctly the first time? Is there a name for the system? What was the process?

It is important to link out to additional resources in your postings. They must be more than simple reflections. Their value will grow as you deepen the meaning by linking to other sources.

As you read your classmates' postings, link to the ones that are relevant. Read theirs first and then discuss your opinion on their postings.
Compare and contrast them. You will be asked to read some professional blogs as well. Bring them into the mix.

    You have a good beginning.

  3. That is awesome, Darnell! Are you finding that the Windows 7 voice recognition feature will with any application or are there some that it seems to have difficulty with? Did you train it to recognize your voice and speech patterns?

  4. Great news, Darnell. I'm glad to see you were able to find an alternative to the Nuance software. It's nice to know Windows 7 has speech recognition as part of the package. What type of microphone did you have to use?
